Construction Notice For Hunt Stakes 21 to 44

On October 29th, 30th and 31st, a bridge will be replaced on Burns Line restricting access to the parking lot for hunting stakes 21 to 44. The construction should only take 3 days to complete. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.

Hunting Stake Moved

Stake 49 was moved this summer to provide a safer hunting area. When it was looked at with a 150m buffer, stakes 49 and 50 overlapped. It was decided that it would be moved to provide a safer hunting experience at Hullett.

Water Levels in the Marsh 2008

In 2007, we saw the continuance of a drought that had been ongoing for a couple of years. This affected hunters in the number of stakes that were near water. There were 14 hunting stakes that were high and dry in 2007. This year has been the opposite, with a good amount of snow in the winter and an abundance of rain this summer, the water levels are high. There is enough water to float a canoe, however the vegetation is very thick and rowing sometimes becomes too difficult. We still recommend that all hunters that are planning to hunt waterfowl this year at Hullett scout their preferred stake beforehand.

Sunday Hunting in the A Zone

This year the Canadian Wildlife Service have extended the waterfowl season to include Sundays for ducks and geese. No small game hunting may take place in the A Zone while Migratory Waterfowl seasons are open.

Pheasant Update

Pheasants have been growing very well this year. Last year there was a problem regarding small stones for their crop. We have changed their feed to wheat and we have seen a difference from last year. Pheasant season opens on September 25th.
